A Store in Your Pocket - Amazon Kindle
Posted by Cristian under Great Ideas , Technology , Interesting[4] Comments
The hardback books have lost yet another battle against technology with the bright new Amazon Kindle. Nonetheless, this one is going to please both the passionate readers and the gadget lovers. The Amazon Kindle, masterly using the electronic ink for its display and giving up the back light, is designed to look like real paper and furthermore to give the impression that you read the actual book, newspaper, magazine or blog. This is made possible by the Taiwan- based Prime View International (PVI), which supplies Amazon Kindle with the e-paper.
When it comes to the wireless connectivity, the Amazon Kindle uses the same technology as advanced cell phones do, which is a high-speed network (EVDO) that enables you to just click, purchase and read – no wireless bills, no contacts, and no plugs. The Amazon Kindle is just a 300-gram device able to store more than 200 books on its memory, but this can be supplied, at any time, with up to 4 GB SD memory cards.

J.K. Rowling - the author of the series - decided to bring to an end the adventures of Harry Potter. Some people say it is the best decision she could have made given the fact it is so long since she has written and released the first volume but most of the fans, most of them “addicted” to Harry’s adventures, are somehow disappointed.
On July 21st, 2007 the store books all around the world started to sell at 00.00 a.m. the book that might become the best seller of the century Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. 72 million copies of the 7th book of the enormously successful series about the young wizard Harry Potter sold worldwide in only 24 hours. This is a new world record that makes “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” the best sold book ever and its author the most successful novelist in history.
Those who are really mad about Harry Potter lined up in front of book stores to get the book and as soon as they got it started reading it while still on the premises. As I have already mentioned Rowling decided to close the series with Book 7. There were some voices that claimed that Book 6 - “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” - lacked real action until the end that the purpose was to fill in relevant details and set the stage for the last book of the series. Posted by Cristian under Good Software , Great Ideas , Technology , Interesting[2] Comments
A few decades ago people discovered and brought to their homes the magic box – the TV set to be more specific. In the 1980’s the PC became very popular with the public and television slowly lost its top position. Now it’s high time these two competitors on an ever increasing market called a truce and joined to exploit the huge potential of both computer and visual entertainment industry.
Bill Gates - is there anyone who has not heard about the giant of the giants in the computer industry? of course not, just asking – foresaw the future of both TV and Internet. Speaking to the businessmen present in Davos, Switzerland, Gates said that the Internet is set to revolutionize television within five years, due to an explosion of online video content and the merging of PC’s and TV sets. Talking to the business leaders and politicians he said “I’m stunned how people aren’t seeing that with TV, in five years from now, people will laugh at what we’ve had”. As so many times before Bill Gates’ words are worth listening to. Read the rest of this entry »

Posted by Cristian under Great Ideas , Technology , InterestingNo Comments

Everyone of us wants to have a house of his or her own. I guess it does not have to be the fairy tale castle, it has just to be a house that meets the demands of a modern family. On the other side there are companies that are interested in building a facility that can either accommodate offices or a production line.
So we have got a plan and some needs to be fulfiled, we have got the land and the money or we have just bought an old building that has to be refurbished. The best solution available at the moment to go to a company specialized in the art of creating images showing the characteristics of a proposed architectural design that means specialized in architectural rendering. Traditional hand-drawn architectural rendering has been extensively used until recently but the ever increasing commercial demand forced the pros to use computer rendering. 3D interior and exterior renderings play major role in real estate sales. This also facilitates making decisions about the final design well before the house is actually refurbished or built. This technique helps developers or individuals experimenting with old or new construction design thus leading to a unique result that can add value to a property. One of the best web sites that provides such services to those interested in rendering the outside of a house or a building is http://www.computer-rendering.com/ Read the rest of this entry »

It is a portion of a market sector, a part of an industry that offers specific types of products or services to the small number of customers who want them. Alternative energy sources up in the sky
Posted by Cristian under Great Ideas , TechnologyNo Comments
Considering the danger represented by the climate changes and the global warming phenomena scientists and businessmen worldwide started to look for alternative energy sources. Besides the wind power or the nuclear energy is has been recently taken into consideration a new power generating substance: helium 3.
What exactly is helium 3? Helium 3, an isotope of helium, a gas used to inflate balloons, has a nucleus with two protons and one neutron. The solar wind, the rapid stream of charged particles emitted by the Sun, strikes the planets and their sattelites in the solar system and thus helium 3 is deposited in the superficial soil (also called regolith). As the Moon’s atmosphere is not very dense this flow of particles easily penetrates the gas layer and reaches the ground. Over millions and billions of years that adds up. But for its denser protective gases layers the Earth would have been under the direct action of the Sun too thus being contaminated by toxic products. Read the rest of this entry »

It has been proven: pixels may fill your bank account
Posted by Cristian under Internet Marketing , Great IdeasNo Comments
Big ad companies make their best to sell the available ad space on their websites. Last year Alex Tew, a 21-year-old student from Cricklade, Wiltshire,England came up with the idea of selling pixels as ad space for $1 per pixel. The media and the entire world soon found out about this revolutionary idea that had previously been brought to life by this young man. Famous, including Orange and The Times, or less well known brands bought ad space on this web site.
Everything started with Alex experiencing a lack of money. His first thought was to raise money for his studies at the University of Nottingham. The domain name sparked his creativity and he immediately put on paper the features the site needed. He bought the domain name for £50. After designing the site himself, which was just a blank page, he invested $1,000 in a press release. The traffic increased and more and more advertisers were persuaded to trust his idea.
