At the age of 25, most people consider they have their whole lives ahead of them. But for Marius, things aren’t what they should be. His heart is failing rapidly and he is in desperate need of a transplant that will at least give him hope, if not a better life.
Marius Fatan is a young man whose only desire is to have what we all take for granted – a normal life. Four years ago, he still thought he could have that. He went to the doctor’s, thinking he caught a cold, only to find out his heart is failing. “I went to the doctor with a very bad cough. He gave me a flue treatment, and I thought that was the end of it. I couldn’t be more wrong.” A few months later, felling worse every day, not even being able to breathe properly, he pays the doctor yet another visit, only to find out that he has water in his lungs. Dr Ioan Manitiu, a cardiologist with the Sibiu Clinical Hospital said “It’s coming from the heart. It’s not as strong as it should be, after contacting a virus. Basically, his heart’s muscles are so week that they can no longer pump the blood out of the heart, causing it to grow. He urgently needs a transplant.” Ever since, he has been waiting for a compatible donor, not being able to do nothing by himself. He doesn’t even leave the house. Basically, he is his own prisoner. An intervention abroad would be possible, but for the costs are way beyond his reach. The least expensive operation and treatment would take the cost up to 200.000 pounds, around 300.000 euro in the United kingdom, compared to a cost of around 500.000 $, that is 350.000 euro in the United States. A Store in Your Pocket - Amazon Kindle
Posted by Cristian under Great Ideas , Technology , Interesting[4] Comments
The hardback books have lost yet another battle against technology with the bright new Amazon Kindle. Nonetheless, this one is going to please both the passionate readers and the gadget lovers. The Amazon Kindle, masterly using the electronic ink for its display and giving up the back light, is designed to look like real paper and furthermore to give the impression that you read the actual book, newspaper, magazine or blog. This is made possible by the Taiwan- based Prime View International (PVI), which supplies Amazon Kindle with the e-paper.
When it comes to the wireless connectivity, the Amazon Kindle uses the same technology as advanced cell phones do, which is a high-speed network (EVDO) that enables you to just click, purchase and read – no wireless bills, no contacts, and no plugs. The Amazon Kindle is just a 300-gram device able to store more than 200 books on its memory, but this can be supplied, at any time, with up to 4 GB SD memory cards.

A lot of you must have been eager, or, at least, curious to go out on dates with a complete stranger. Yes, that’s right, someone you’ve never met and seen until you have finally decided it is time to try something new. You, then, ask your best friend to set you up. But before you get so excited, I guess a little bit of planning would add up to the thrill.
1. Do a background check.
So you have agreed for your friend to set you up with a person whom your friend thinks is your soul mate. However, just because your friend said so does not mean that this stranger is really meant for you. You must check what type of person you’ll be spending your date with. A little snooping won’t harm at all. Ask your friend for an email address or mobile phone number, and start getting to know him/her before the actual date happens. Who knows, you might not want to date this person after all. Or, better yet, you will be so excited that you can’t wait to meet up with your blind date!

History of one of the most poisonous plants: tobacco.
When America was discovered in 1492 tobacco had already been playing a major part in the culture of the Native Americans. The indigenous peoples were using it for their religious ceremonies because under certain circumstances it becomes hallucinogenic. The Europeans who settled in America learned to smoke and brought this practice to Europe. The early settlers thought tobacco had a ‘recreationally’ effect and the land owners made fortunes from their tobacco plantations which had widely spread especially in the South of the present day USA.
Smoked, chewed, dipped or sniffed into the nose tobacco became in the 17th century one of the most profitable products imported from America and at the same one of most dangerous substances that human beings deliberately introduce in their bodies.

Posted by Cristian under Internet Marketing , InterestingNo Comments

The fact is the internet has already entered the second era in its existence. Most people agree that web2.0 is the future, I mean that virtually anybody can now use and benefit from software or applications that 3 years ago were unapproachable for most users.
Yahoo! had entered this new market long before others did. If you considered buying a web domain now it’s the right moment to do it. Yahoo! Small Business offers to those interested domains for only $1.99. The key features of the Yahoo! Domains are the 24/7 toll-free customer service, a user friendly administrator panel, the domain locking and very important more room to grow which means there are a lot of other services that you can add at any given moment. Yahoo! Domains helps the owner of the domain purchased from them to protect from spammers and to upgrade - if necessary - to a full website.

In most western countries legal gambling brings the state a lot of money and from time to time some very lucky guys get rich. But most of the times gambling is just a matter of luck and perseverance. A couple of days ago I found on the web this proverb that inspired me to write this post today “Luck helps the daring” and I would add “and the gamblers”.
What exactly does the word “gambling” refers to? Gambling is a human behaviour that involves risking money on the outcome of a game, contest and so on. The result of that particular activity that the gamblers follow in its developement and outcome depends partially or totally upon chance or upon other objective or subjective causes.

Laura Andresan - Former Journalist Becomes XXX Star
Posted by Cristian under Celebrities , Interesting , MusicNo Comments

Many people in Romania blame her for her public behaviour. Laura Andresan is for sure the Romanian star who has changed for ever people’s attitude towards sex and sexuality in this part of the world. Her role - after a few years of intense activity - in the showbiz has not come to an end yet.
At the age of 16 she started writing articles for newspapers in Bucharest. She remembers having worked with Ion Cristoiu - who was her senior editor. Luara is more than that kind of sexy bomb people tend to consider her. Cristian Tudor Popescu, Marius Tuca or Radu Morar are among her favourite Romanian journalists, it is not the case with those journalists who follow her everywhere just to find scandalous details about her public or private life.

J.K. Rowling - the author of the series - decided to bring to an end the adventures of Harry Potter. Some people say it is the best decision she could have made given the fact it is so long since she has written and released the first volume but most of the fans, most of them “addicted” to Harry’s adventures, are somehow disappointed.
On July 21st, 2007 the store books all around the world started to sell at 00.00 a.m. the book that might become the best seller of the century Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. 72 million copies of the 7th book of the enormously successful series about the young wizard Harry Potter sold worldwide in only 24 hours. This is a new world record that makes “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” the best sold book ever and its author the most successful novelist in history.
Those who are really mad about Harry Potter lined up in front of book stores to get the book and as soon as they got it started reading it while still on the premises. As I have already mentioned Rowling decided to close the series with Book 7. There were some voices that claimed that Book 6 - “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” - lacked real action until the end that the purpose was to fill in relevant details and set the stage for the last book of the series. The Story
On the 18th of May DreamWorks SKG is about to release the third film of the very successful Shrek series – Shrek the Third. The new movie is based on the same ideas of friendship and love in a fictional animated setting only that this time Shrek and his adeventurous mates are looking for a new king for Far Far Away and a baby is on its way.
In the second movie (2004) of the series Shrek the Ogre finds his love, the charming princess Fiona who transforms at night into an ogress and who is, at first at least, very reluctant to reveal her own real identity. When he married Fiona his last intention and priority was to rule the land of his father-in-law. On the sudden death of king Harold Shrek quickly becomes fitted suitable for the throne. The unexpected and unwanted royal duties put a great pressure on the green smelly ogre who has no other solution than to look for a fitted king lest he should become - willy nilly - the ruler of Far Far Away. Bill Gates has spoken - Internet integrated with Satellite television
Posted by Cristian under Good Software , Great Ideas , Technology , Interesting[2] Comments
A few decades ago people discovered and brought to their homes the magic box – the TV set to be more specific. In the 1980’s the PC became very popular with the public and television slowly lost its top position. Now it’s high time these two competitors on an ever increasing market called a truce and joined to exploit the huge potential of both computer and visual entertainment industry.
Bill Gates - is there anyone who has not heard about the giant of the giants in the computer industry? of course not, just asking – foresaw the future of both TV and Internet. Speaking to the businessmen present in Davos, Switzerland, Gates said that the Internet is set to revolutionize television within five years, due to an explosion of online video content and the merging of PC’s and TV sets. Talking to the business leaders and politicians he said “I’m stunned how people aren’t seeing that with TV, in five years from now, people will laugh at what we’ve had”. As so many times before Bill Gates’ words are worth listening to. Read the rest of this entry »
