The Story

On the 18^th of May DreamWorks SKG is about to release the third film of the very successful Shrek series – Shrek the Third. The new movie is based on the same ideas of friendship and love in a fictional animated setting only that this time Shrek and his adeventurous mates are looking for a new king for Far Far Away and a baby is on its way.

In the second movie (2004) of the series Shrek the Ogre finds his love, the charming princess Fiona who transforms at night into an ogress and who is, at first at least, very reluctant to reveal her own real identity. When he married Fiona his last intention and priority was to rule the land of his father-in-law. On the sudden death of king Harold Shrek quickly becomes fitted suitable for the throne. The unexpected and unwanted royal duties put a great pressure on the green smelly ogre who has no other solution than to look for a fitted king lest he should become - willy nilly - the ruler of Far Far Away.

And this is not all. Shrek leaves on a quest to find the other possible heir to the throne of Far Far Away – Fiona’s cousin Artie, also known as king Arthur. As Shrek prepares to embark on the voyage Fiona tells him that she is pregnant and thus this time he has to face the biggest challenge ever – fatherhood.

Shrek is the same ogre who loves his swamp and likes having a ‘good’ slug or bug for dinner with his wife. Even if he used to consider himself a loner he has now got two reliable friends – Donkey and Puss In Boots – and has to face the challenges of the his new public status.

His friends Donkey and Puss In Boots will help him again and finally the day is saved and every one lived “Happily Ever After.” Donkey is every time talking loud and too much but he is the optimistic extrovert figure who becomes one of Shrek’s “administrative assistants”. At least in theory he should help Shrek fulfilling his duties but most of the time he is not very effective in his high rank job.

Puss In Boots is the acrobatic cat speaking English with a smooth Spanish accent who either bravely fights all the enemies or who escapes a dangerous situation playing the helpless kitty.

Stars Acting in Shrek the Third

From the famous Hollywood stars who borrowed their voices to the animated characters in Shrek the Third the fans of the series and not only will certainly enjoy hearing Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Fiona), Antonio Banderas (Puss In Boots), Eddie Murphy (Donkey) and the world famous singer Justin Timberlake (Artie). Of course there are other popular actors or stars who “act” in the movie but I think the most important are those who play the starring roles.

Besides the characters who had already appeared in the previous two films of the series this time the producers introduced Merlin the magician, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella or Captain Hook.

The Crew

The latest movie of the Shrek series was directed by Chris Miller and co-directed by Raman Hui. Both of them worked together very well and they are pleased with the result. What is more is the fact that even they did not work on the Shrek series from the beginning the latest movie continues the story of the first two ones. They also collaborated very well with the stars who are ‘acting’ in the movie.

The producer of Shrek the Third is Aron Warner. He has actually been working on this project for six years now, actually he produced all the three movies. In 1998 he also produced another animated success “Antz”. Aron Warner is a well known figure in Hollywood who was involved in many successful projects working as producer or assistant-producer.

All in all I am sure Shrek the Third is going to be a real success and even a box office hit as the previous two films have already proven to be. And don’t forget telling your children ogres are nice civilized creatures who can be very caring for their friends and babies.
